BIOWEG Ranks Among the Top 3 Sustainability Startups at LVMH Innovation Award 2023

We are thrilled to announce that BIOWEG has achieved a remarkable milestone by being acknowledged as one of the top three sustainability startups at the prestigious LVMH Innovation Award 2023 in Paris. This recognition not only validates the immense value and potential of our bio-based alternatives but also emphasizes our commitment to addressing the urgent issue of microplastics in the cosmetic industry and beyond.

Every year, the LVMH Innovation Award seeks out startups that are poised to shape the future of luxury. Since 2018, the most promising solutions have been selected among hundreds of applicants and showcased in Paris during VivaTech—the world’s premier event for startups and industry leaders to celebrate innovation. This gathering brings together the brightest minds, talents, and products. At the final ceremony, winning startups are honored, highlighting their successes and providing them with unique visibility across the Group.

As part of the LVMH booth, we had the incredible opportunity to pitch on the LVMH stage and showcase our sustainable fermented cellulose-derived solutions at Viva Technology. Throughout the event, our booth attracted over 2000 attendees, providing them with an engaging and immersive experience and a comprehensive understanding of our circular biotech technology. Every individual had the chance to interact with our makeup formulations featuring our micropowder and rheology modifier. This hands-on experience enabled them to witness firsthand the transformative potential of our bio-based alternatives.

Participating in this prestigious event allowed us to exchange ideas, engage in inspiring discussions, and gain invaluable insights from industry experts and visionaries. One of the key highlights was our exclusive interview with CNBC, where our CEO, Prateek Mahalwar, had the opportunity to shed light on the critical importance of replacing petroleum-based ingredients with bio-based alternatives in today’s world. This interview not only allowed us to talk about our innovative approach but also enabled us to share our message with a global audience, showcasing the vast potential of our solutions.

We extend our deepest gratitude to LVMH Open Innovation and Viva Technology organizers for providing us with an exceptional platform to showcase our solutions on a global scale. We would also like to thank the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) for making this opportunity possible. Additionally, we express our appreciation to all the visitors who took the time to visit our booth, share their thoughts, and express their support in the fight against microplastic pollution. Your enthusiasm and encouragement serve as a driving force for our determination to create positive change.

We are proud of our team for their dedicated work and what we have achieved in a short amount of time. The passion for finding a scientific solution and a shared vision to solve the microplastic problem has been instrumental in reaching this significant milestone. With the ongoing support of our partners, stakeholders, and enthusiastic individuals, we are continuously developing and we are confident in our ability to drive meaningful change and shape a sustainable future.
