Job Description
As a Research Scientist at our biotech startup, you will be independently responsible for leading our green R&D initiatives in the area of natural biodegradable materials, encompassing both new and existing product development.

Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities to identify and develop novel green chemistry processes utilizing cellulose as a key component.
- Design and optimize reaction pathways and experimental protocols for the conversion of cellulose into value-added products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop sustainable and scalable processes that minimize waste and energy consumption.
- Perform analysis and characterization of cellulose-based materials using advanced techniques and instrumentation.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in green chemistry, cellulose chemistry, and related fields to drive innovation within the company.
- Maintain accurate records in physical as well as electronic form, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Masters/PhDs in or related to Polymer/Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry.
- Industrial experience of 1-2 years would be preferred.
- Proven expertise of using green chemistry methodologies for chemical modification of cellulosic based materials for desired application is a must.
- Solid understanding of reaction kinetics, catalysis, and sustainable chemical processes.
- Strong experience with data analysis software tools such as Excel, or any other statistical software.
- Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and the use of analytical instruments.
- Experience in process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer is considered an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.
- Fluency in English - both verbal and written.
